Equine Veterinary and Podiatry Services offers a complete advanced podiatry service through out Southern California. Dr. Grant Garcia is a licensed veterinarian and trained farrier who provides Advanced Podiatry and Lameness services, effectively treating and enabling the best outcomes for hoof injuries, puncture wounds, quarter cracks, laminitis/founder, hoof/coffin bone infections, white line disease, navicular syndrome, club feet, or any hoof related lameness.
Teamwork is
imperative to successfully treat complicated hoof conditions. Dr. Garcia has a fully equipped ambulatory clinic and can design and build customized therapeutic orthotics utilizing shoes (nail and glue on), pads, boots, etc. Dr. Garcia’s analysis, techniques, and plans are individually designed and cater for all types of horses, disciplines, and equine lifestyles.

Laminitis / Founder is an Emergency! What is done the first few days/week will significantly improve the outcome including recovery time, future soundness, and quality of life. X-rays and venograms are valuable assessment and monitoring tools that are important for guiding an effective treatment plan.

About Dr. Grant Garcia BVSc APF Prior to being a veterinarian, Dr. Garcia went to Sierra South Horseshoeing School in Ramona California, and has been a practicing farrier since 2009. In addition to his farrier practice Dr. Garcia taught veterinary students at the University of Queensland in the areas of farriery, hoof related lameness, and podiatry through seminars and talks. Dr. Garcia graduated from The University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia and is a licensed veterinarian in the United States as well as Australia. After graduating Dr. Garcia immediately started practicing with a Brisbane, AU based veterinary practice primarily assessing and treating lameness and foot related problems. Dr. Garcia has had the opportunity to learn directly from many talented veterinarians and farriers such as Dr. Chris Pollitt and Dr. Andrew VanEps and has completed extensive equine practice continuing education particularly in the areas of therapeutic farriery, equine podiatry, lameness, and sports medicine. Dr. Garcia is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners(AAEP), the American Veterinary Medical Association(AVMA),the American Association of Professional Farriers(AAPF), American Farrier’s Association(AFA), and Equine Soundness Professionals. Dr. Garcia’s passion is horses’ feet and lameness and finds helping painful horses very rewarding.
